Vézelay

From the top of its hill, the Basilique Sainte-Madeleine was classified by UNESCO because it’s worth it.

Vézelay, eternal hill

You can see the basilica from a distance. It overlooks the Burgundy vineyards and the forests of the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan.

The city is a centre of pilgrimage and also one of France’s most beautiful villages. You won’t regret discovering its architectural heritage, its medieval façades, its terraces and lovely shops will make you almost forget that it’s quite a big climb to reach the basilica.

And if you let yourself be tempted by a visit, you’ll probably want to come back because As Jules Roy said : « Once you’ve contemplated this city and its ramparts, you’can’t do without it anymore…»
