Marked hike No. 23. In the space of an hour, find yourself in the 13th century on a path of legends and join the builders of fortified castles.

Description
Departure from the Champ de Foire (motorhome area).
(D/A) Cross Rue du Petit Pont and take Chemin de la Déplaisance (farthest on the left) downhill, towards the North-West. As you pass, leave a path going on the right. Arrive at the hamlet of Jolivots (cross on the right).
(1) Then take the small road which goes west (ignore the one which goes sharply to the right and which serves a few houses in the village).
Continue to the end, passing the foot of the Château de Ratilly on your left (possibility of going around).
(2) Continue and leave the hamlets of Martins, Bourg-sans-Paille and Pautrats on either side.
(3) From this end of the road dotted with pollarded trees at its end, take the sandy path which goes to the North-West.
Leave the first crossroads on the right (forest road) and continue until the next crossroads.
(4) Take the path on the right and go down, leaving a path on the right.
(5) Pass at the foot of the Neufs Pas site. Continue by pressing left to reach a main road (D955).
(6) Cross with caution, go down to the right (the path runs along the wood fence) to reach the site of the Guédelon fortified castle.
At the end of the visit, retrace your steps.
(5) Turn left (visually, almost straight). Cross the ford either on the footbridge or on dry ground depending on the water level of the stream. Forget the path going on the left and reach Château Colnot (a simple house on the right).
(7) Turn right, pass a small pond. At the fork, turn right and reach a crossroads of 5 paths including a wider forest path.
(8) Take the 2nd path on the left. Some side branches are to be left. After a clearing with a field on the right, there is a path on the right.
(9) Take it and continue to find a first intersection. Turn right and at the second intersection, turn left. Afterwards, continue straight ahead when leaving the woods. Return to the starting point (D/A).
