Petits et grands étangs de Puisaye

There are no less than 8 ponds, of different shapes, surfaces and biotopes that you will discover, not counting the ponds and streams that you will come across in this country where Colette certainly admired them all and for some loved them. The icing on the cake is that you can have a picnic on the edge of one of them and take a dip in the Bourdon reservoir!

Description

To park, the car parks at the castle, the Market Square or the Maison de Santé will welcome you.
(D/A) From Place de la Maison de Santé (also called Place Blanche), go to the right of the display column and go up. Leave the Colette museum and turn left after the Saracen tower. Go through the gate and go up Rue de Bel Air to the Stop. Cross straight on and continue, ignoring each road on the right and left.

(1) When you follow the D955, at the first crossroads, go down left for 50m, cross this departmental road to go straight ahead.

(2) Pass over the dyke of the Etang des Barres (private), continue to the D7. Turn left.

(3) At the Étang de la Folie on the right, continue straight on. In a large curve on the right, facing the fir trees, turn right towards Les Boulmiers. At the first Stop, go straight. Drive, pass the Boulmiers, then go down to reach the Moutiers pond at the crossroads. It can be seen behind the trees.

(4) At this crossroads, take the second right. Walk along the pond, sometimes hidden, sometimes free of view depending on the season. When you arrive at the dike, take it as far as the railway tracks.

(5) Cross these lanes straight on, go up this road until the next crossroads with the D85. Cross to take the right lane, direction Quinaux – Charmoy.

(6) Pass over the dyke of the Charmoy pond. At the top of this lane, turn right (facing you, large metal gates). Then go along the woods with a fence on the left which forms the northern enclosure of the Boutissaint animal park.

(7) Take a small lane on the right with a house on the right and a little further on, one on the left. Drive for 200m and turn right at the bottom of the descent.

(8) Turn left (campsite on the right). Leave the next one on the left, the next one on the right. Pass between a small subdivision of wooden houses on the right and the horse farm on the left. Take the next lane on the left which goes down to the edge of the reservoir and then runs alongside a summer camp (this part which runs along the Bourdon is less smooth).

(9) On arrival, take the dike road, continue along this path which overlooks this reservoir, moves slightly away from it in places and ends at Les Midoux.

(10) Go straight ahead. Walk along the western enclosure of Boutissaint Park, leaving the entrances on the left. After the large curve on the right, continue to arrive at the crossroads with the D955.

(11) Turn left.

(12) Leave the Guédelon castle and, in the bends, the Guédelon pond on the left.

(13) A few houses, then, on the right, the Chassin pond. Continue, passing a first crossroads of 4 roads, then a second. Start a descent and in the middle of the straight line, after 3 houses on the left, at the crossroads of 4 roads, turn right.

(14) Direction Les Veillats and first on the left (leave Bussière des Bois opposite). Leave the next lane on the right, then the lane which enters the Jacquots farm to continue on this very pretty but winding little road. Cross Les Dubois, continue going straight down at the next crossroads.

(15) Arrive at the Orme du Pont pond on the right, follow it to the Stop. Make a quick right-left, climb onto the well-shaded path.

(16) At the first crossroads of 4 roads, turn left. At the fork, take a slight right, follow a wooded area, cross the artisanal area.

(17) Cross the railway tracks, turn left and continue straight on.

(18) Arrive at Rue des Renards, go up, keeping this lane which becomes Rue de la Roche. Find the entrance to the car park on the right and the starting point (D/A).
