Description
Departure from the square of Saint-Julien de Thury church.
This circuit is marked mountain bike n°206 and takes the same route as a hiking trail traced in the opposite direction and marked n°9.
(D/A) Take Rue de la Fontaine Saint-Julien for 100 m then turn right, Rue du Guichet. At the next intersection, turn left and continue for around 300 m and find the start of a path on the left a few meters after the town exit sign.
(1) Follow the path on the left, straight on, for approximately 1,300 km, until a fork in the road, at the end of a hedge of trees.
(2) Take the path on the right, arrive at a small lane and take it to the right.
(3) At the four-way intersection, go opposite, direction Colangette and at the next one, turn right for a few meters then immediately left. This avoids crossing the hamlet of Colangette.
(4) At the crossroads with Rue du Carouge, continue opposite on the dirt road without worrying about right or left departures. At the cross path, turn right and join the road (D4).
(5) Continue to the right for 50 m, then go up the path on the left to reach a tarmac lane.
(6) Turn right and continue on this path. At the next fork, take the street on the right for about a hundred meters and then take the first dirt road on the left and reach the Puits des Champs washhouse.
(7) Continue to the next tarmac lane, turn left and enter the village of Grangette. Go straight ahead until you reach a four-way intersection.
(8) Turn right, direction Pesselière, and reach, at a grove, the next start of a dirt road on the right. Take it then turn left a few meters after turning square to the right and arrive at a road (D73).
(9) Continue opposite, in the woods, on the path on the right. From this location, many trails are marked on the ground, refer to the practical information and the mountain bike markings. Head southwest and leave the quarries on the left, following the wooded strip.
(10) Continue straight along the edge. Pass in front of the stadium on the right and arrive at a cross road (locker rooms of the football field below).
(11) Go left on the road which turns into a forest path. Leave all paths on the right and left until the edge of the woods on the descent.
(12) Turn 90° to the right and follow the edge of the Bois du Roichat then between the fields until the next road.
(13) Go right and travel approximately 800 m to the next path on the left.
(14) Take it then, after 150 m, turn right and keep this path until the next road (D3).
(15) Cross it with caution and continue on the path opposite, slightly to the left. At the four-way intersection, turn right, cross the road again and go down the path which joins the Source de Moulery with its washhouse. Then get back on the road.
(16) Cross it by going left-right and take the dirt road.
On this path, nice view of the hamlet of Moulery. Veer once to the right, then once to the left and arrive at a four-way intersection.
(17) Go right then keep right at the next intersection and arrive at the Gémigny washhouse.
(18) Continue along the street on the left and go straight ahead to the last buildings.
(19) Go on the path on the left and reach the Source de Boutaut.
(20) Turn around and return to Gémigny.
(19) Go right then, at the following corner, turn left, Rue des Cours, then left again, Rue des Lavoirs. Keep it until Panny's Spring.
(21) Then carefully go up the road on the left towards the North-West. Ignore a road on the left and arrive at a crow's foot. Turn right then, immediately after, take the path on the left. At the next intersection, turn right and arrive at the next one at the top of the climb.
(22) Turn right to join a road (D73).
(23) Cross with caution and take the path opposite which you will have to leave at the next intersection to turn left and immediately choose the one on the right. Then go straight ahead to the village of La Forêt with its watering hole.
(24) Take the road on the right (D211) up to the semi-buried tanks on the left.
(25) At the right bend in the road, take the dirt road on the left, heading South-East. Ignore a path on the right then another on the left and at the bottom of the descent, turn left to arrive on the road at the first houses of Thury.
(26) Cross this road, the washhouse and the Fontaine de Saint-Julien are opposite, and continue South-East to reach the square of the village church (D/A).
