Route details
Description
Departure is from the car park located at the entrance to the castle (do not cross the Porte de Ville which opens onto Rue du Château Fort). To get there, take the direction Château or La Ville following the entrance to the village of Druyes-les-Belles-fontaines.
(D/A) Leave the car park on the road side and with your back to the gate (or postern) providing access to the fortified city, leave via the tarmac road opposite (north-east direction). Leave the first path on the right, then the second on the left as well as the markings. Shortly after the hangar on the right below, turn left onto a stony path, travel approximately 250 m.
(1) Take the path on the left that goes down into the valley. This ends on a tarmac road. Continue straight ahead, leave the uphill lane and turn right twice in a row to reach Rue Thiers. Travel 150 m on this uphill street.
(2) Turn left towards Ferme Saint-Martin. At the end of the curve and before the 90° turn, turn left onto the path.
(3) At this crossroads, let the path ahead (lined with hedges) go by to choose the one on the right. It ends on the route of an old railway line. Go left towards the viaduct. Arriving on the road, cross with caution and continue straight. This path leads to a crossroads with a tarmac lane and a house on the right along which a path runs.
(4) Go down to the left, cross the bridge and continue on the side of the road (voluntary drop-off point) up to the crow's feet. Take the road on the right and, immediately after, the path on the right. At the intersection, turn left for a round trip to Calvary.
(5) Return to the previous crossroads and continue the route on the left. Go down the path, turn left at the exit of the bend (the path opposite leads to a ford that is impassable most of the time).
(6) Cross the river and the next arm on the two successive bridges (the route is on private property with a right of way for the benefit of the people of the village). Go back up the road, leaving the Château du Boulet on the left.
(7) Turn left twice in a row to enter the village. At the Stop sign, turn left, cross the bridge over the Druyes and continue. At the church, head right, on the path cut by a barrier arm, towards the lake.
(8) Follow this body of water to the right, arriving at Rue Thiers. Cross and go up Rue de la Comtesse Mahaut opposite (restaurant on the right).
(9) Halfway up the hill, turn right onto the first grassy path (2 bollards prevent vehicles from using it). At the top, turn right, pass in front of the castle and continue on Rue du Château Fort to reach the town entrance gate and the car park (D/A).
