Description
Departure for this hike from the village hall car park, along the D965.
(D/A) With your back to the village hall, go uphill on the left without crossing the road. Pass the school, turn left onto Chemin des Pimolles. Walk along the sports field, then the cemetery and go down to the left.
(1) The tarmac road ends to make way for a crossing path, turn right until the next fork.
(2) The path divides, turn right and continue until the next intersection where you must turn right to reach the first Dalibeaux houses.
(3) At the road, turn left, continue this way, leaving the paths going to the right and left. At the intersection with another perpendicular road, turn left. Keep this small path until Les Soupirons where it ends in a stony path.
(4) At this crossroads, turn sharply left, keeping the main path, follow the property fence on the right. At the end, choose the path that goes to the left, then cross the Branlin stream on the right.
(5) Arriving on the tarmac road (grassy strip in the middle in places), go down it on the right, cross the bridge which spans the Branlin to reach a crossroads. Describe a slight right-left to take a new sunken path which emerges in front of the Chapel of the Château du Fort.
(6) Pass in front of the entrance to the castle, continue on this path and, in the large curve, leave it to go opposite. Walk through the woods, then through a strip of hedges to reach a crossroads of small lanes. Go opposite on this narrow but paved street.
(7) Arriving in the suburbs of Mézilles, choose Rue des Ferriers and leave Rue de la Barre on the right, and Route de Fontaines on the left. Join the D965, cross it on the protected passage. Arriving on the sidewalk, turn left towards the bridge. Cross one of the arms of Branlin and immediately descend into the Ribaudin garden. Cross this garden along the reach and exit through the gate opening onto the street. Go down towards the river to pass either by the ford or over the bridge (depending on the height of the water and your desire).
(8) Turn left onto the path which runs alongside the Branlin. Pass under the porch housing the washhouse and exit at the corner of Rue du Middle-Age and Rue de l'Église. Go back up the latter, keeping the church on the left hand side. Join the Grande Rue, turn left, cross the D965 on the protected passage to find the departure car park (D/A).
