L'Arbre à Vœux de Boutissaint

Marked hike No. 302. In addition to the wild animals in freedom and the discovery of the environment of this park, this imposing oak with very low branches offers visitors the opportunity to mark their passage with a ribbon hung and bearing a wish. A whole symbolism perhaps opening the door to a wonderful legend.

Description

The start of this route is near the Chapelle Sainte-Langueur de Boutissaint, inside the park.
Marked route along its entire length.

(D/A) Facing the chapel, head to the left taking the wide path. Shortly after the last building, turn right crossing a wooden bridge. Walk along the fence of the European bison park and at the edge of the woods, turn left. Several wooden bridges help with the journey. The few enclosures and their fences will serve as a guide. At the end of the climb, arrive on a side path.

(1) Go to the right. Pass in front of an old oppidum to end up on a hollow side path.

(2) Turn left. Continue on this main path, ignoring the clearing paths and occasional traces of animal passage. Arrive at a clearer part and discover a path on the left with a fence in the left corner.

(3) Turn left onto this path which runs alongside the park grounds. In front of a fairly deep ditch dug by the rivers upstream, turn left and go down to reach a passage. Cross the street using this bridge, go up to the right and quickly find the fence. Continue on the left. Arriving at plot separation 14 and 16 (numbers marked on the oak trees), go down to the left. At the bottom of the valley, the Étang de la Bruyère takes shape. Go around it to the right and end up in front of the Corsican mouflon enclosure.

(4) Turn right and follow this enclosure. At the very wide path, turn right and pass a sand quarry. Find the perimeter fence on the right and follow it for approximately 200 m, keeping it to the right.

(5) Go left on this path, slightly hidden in the vegetation at the very beginning. Continue straight ahead, here again, a number of trails and paths created by the passage of animals are visible. Arrive on the path which leads from the castle to the Parc de la Boulassière de la Boissière.

(6) Cross this path straight on. Return to the undergrowth and follow the path regularly laid out by wooden bridges which avoid the muddy and marshy parts due to the numerous springs and streams. Arrive overlooking the Étang des Midoux.

(7) Take the path on the left and quickly cross the dike of the pond. Go back up this path and reach the wishing tree. Continue straight ahead to reach the enclosure gates.

(8) Enter the undergrowth. To do this, turn left once, then after having traveled about twenty meters, turn left again and after approximately 80 m, turn right. Keep this path in the undergrowth until you find a Y intersection. Take the left branch. Continue and arrive overlooking the Étang du Château. Cross the ravine and before the bridge which leads to the dike, follow the pond on the right bank, passing either through the woods or along the water's edge depending on the season.
At the end of the pond, turn left/right to cross the stream, follow it for around sixty meters and go up the wood path, passing at the foot of an alignment of Puisaye sandstone slabs. Go past the barn and return to the starting point (D/A).
