La Chapelle Saint-Marc
Marked hike No. 46. On the banks of the Puisaye, this hike is largely on the hills of Forterre. The fields and horizons are vast, the woods provide shade. The Chastenay discovery garden brings its natural touch.

Description
Departure from the Leugny Fairgrounds car park (along the Ouanne).
(D/A) Walk along the car park to exit opposite the Grande Rue into Ruelle des Mulets. At the crossroads, facing the road, turn left into Rue de l'Église Saint-Martin (D125 towards Chastenay). Walk along the cemetery.
(1)Cross the D125 and turn onto the first path on the right. Go up and enter the wood.
(2) Shortly after, turn left. Forget a start of the path on the right then turn right onto the next one. Continue on this main route, leaving the departure points on the right to reach a crossroads with a path going at a 45° angle to the right and a path turning at right angles.
(3) Choose the latter, this part is on a false level until the 2nd T-junction. At this crossroads, turn right uphill.
(4) Turn left and start going down to find a crossroads of 4 paths. Go straight on. Enter a narrow path lined with hedges. This descent is quite rapid (route not indicated on IGN background).
(5) Shortly before the end of the descent, turn right onto a path which winds through an open garden. Stay on this path with stairs and handrail to arrive in front of the wash house on the left (just after the path which climbs on the left). Walk along it and head towards the church with the old weighing area. Go down to the right, cross the street and turn left for about 50m.
Take the right street towards Ouanne. Keep it going straight up until you find a path.
Take it and go straight through the hamlet of Chicorneau.
(6) Go straight on this road to keep for approximately 400m to cross 2 perpendicular paths.
(7) Turn left and go straight down to reach a cross path.
(8) Turn right and keep this path lined with cereal crops. Continue, reaching the first houses of Les Granges, the road becomes tarmac. Keep it, leaving the road on the left and crossing the Ouanne. Pass in front of the Moulin des Granges on the left and reach the Chapelle Saint-Marc.
(9) Cross the D950 with caution. Go up the lane opposite. It ends quickly on the way. At the T-junction, turn left. Continue on this axis, leaving a first path on the right. Arrive at a crossroads of paths (the one opposite blends in with the vegetation, October 2019).
(10) Turn left and come out on a small road.
(11) Turn left for approximately 400m. Turn left onto a wide, grassy path bordered by a hedge on the left. Reach a road (D950).
(12) Given the configuration of the area, turn right without crossing. Walk about fifty meters to find yourself in front of a path perpendicular to the road.
Cross with caution and take this path. Cross the ford on the bridge. Reach the cemetery.
(1) Turn right, keeping to the right shoulder. At the crossroads, go down to the right onto the street you took at the start (D/A).
(D/A) Walk along the car park to exit opposite the Grande Rue into Ruelle des Mulets. At the crossroads, facing the road, turn left into Rue de l'Église Saint-Martin (D125 towards Chastenay). Walk along the cemetery.
