This circuit, classified as cycle tourism, invites you to discover the built and landscaped heritage of this green Puisaye, with a beautiful overview of the surrounding villages, the Yonne valley and the very different Tholon hills.

Description

The departure is from Place des Frères Genet.

(D/A) From the car park, take the right towards Auxerre via the D965. 1 km after the Toucy exit, turn left towards Parly. Take the D48 for 4 km, it is a beautiful shaded road going downhill to the village of Parly.

(1) At the crossroads, in sight of the church, turn left twice, direction Échelotte, Merry, les Chênons, go up for 500 m and follow Rue du Mont Chaumont on the left (note the signs have partly been erased). On this very beautiful uphill road of approximately 2,5 km, you will be able to admire a green and open landscape then you will cross the woods before reaching the plateau at a place called la Fumée. At the stop sign, continue opposite towards La Faisanderie, Les Tremblats, follow to the right and pass in front of the Pheasantry of Tremblats.

(2) At the viewpoint, continue on the same path.

(3) 100 m after the hamlet of Archons, turn left. At the stop sign, arrive at the D955 and take this lane to the right for 400 m.

(4) At a place called Les Placeaux, after the big curve, turn onto the first road on the left (D154), direction Les Ormes.

(5) Arriving at the hamlet of Froville, in front of the castle gates, turn right onto the D454 towards Aillant-sur-Tholon for 1 km.

(6) Turn left, direction Boisserelle, Roncemay golf course. Go around the golf course following the fence on the left. Continue on the RD57 to reach Les Ormes.

(7) In the village of Les Ormes, keep the main road which goes slightly towards the North-West. Cut the D154. Take the direction of Sommecaise on the D14 (north-west direction), you will be able to see the Château de Bontin on your left (possible ascent up the castle alley). Continue with a descent into the valley where the Vrin, a tributary of the Yonne, flows. After the bridge, turn right.

(8) Cross the D3, direction La Brimbalerie.

(9) Continue on the D14.

(10) Go straight on, direction Grandchamp. The road is beautiful and quiet. After Petits Brossards, go down towards Grandchamp.

(11) At the stop sign, cross the D950 and continue for 200 m towards the Château de Grandchamp.

(12) Possibility to stop in front of the gate and admire the harmony of this beautiful property. Backtrack to the crossroads. Take the small road opposite, lined with a tree and eleven trognes. Continue straight ahead, along the Ouanne Valley. In places, follow the old railway line (now Cyclorail). Pass Les Clausses (farm on the right). Cross the railway line and continue to arrive at the Villiers-Saint-Benoît leisure park. Turn left towards the village.

(13) Walk past the museum. Take the right.

(14) Leave the church on the right and continue on the D950 to Dracy.

(15) Cross the railway tracks (be careful, from Villiers-Saint-Benoît, this section is covered by a tourist train). Follow the D950 passing the cemetery on the left. This road partly runs along the railway line.

(16) At the end of a large curve and after leaving the small road which goes up to La Perreuse on the right, turn left onto the D229 towards Champeaux.

(17) Go directly to Toucy along the Ouanne.

(18) Arrive on the D955, go down to the right. Continue straight ahead to the town center and reach the Toucy Tourist Office in Rue Colette to the right of the Pierre Larousse Statue (D/A).
