Description

Departure from the Lainsecq Fairgrounds car park.
This circuit follows a marked mountain bike circuit bearing number 200 and entitled “Small tour on the Montagne des Alouettes”.

(D/A) From the bus shelter, cross the road and turn left onto Rue du Muguet (north-east direction) which runs along a wall (rings are sealed and used to tie up livestock on fair days). Keep this street until you reach the last houses in the village. Continue and, at the crow's feet, turn left until you reach the edge of the woods.

(1) Turn left and follow the edge of the woods, then enter the woods at the crossroads of three paths. Access the road. Turn left. It ends quickly on the way.

(2) Continue straight at the intersection. At the curve on the left, join a cross road.

(3) Take it on the left.

(4) Turn onto the first path on the right and reach, uphill, the edge of the Bois du Roichat. Continue to the next cross path.

(5) Turn right and go straight down to the tarmac lane (D73)

(6) Take it on the right then, 150 m later, turn left at the bend. Cross the village of Sougères-en-Puisaye keeping an East-South-East heading.

(7) Shortly after Simons, turn right twice in a row to take a path. Go up to the next road.

(8) Go left. Continue the climb and turn at the first path on the left (pedestrian markers on the ground). Head towards a wood.

(9) Head into the undergrowth to find the opening onto a field on the right.

(10) Turn right and continue along the edge of the woods. Reach a roadway (cross on the right).

(11) Turn left onto the dirt road which ends on Rue des Carrouges.

(12) Go right to go up this street. Pass a pond on the left, then make a right-left at the road to follow a path which leads to an old Roman road.

(13) Take this old Roman road on the left, very stony during the climb. Keep it as the main path.

(14) Further on, continue on the tarmac road opposite, keeping the woods on the left until you reach the summit sign indicating “Montagne des Alouettes 365m”. Continue straight ahead for a few dozen meters.

(15) Turn onto the right path, then turn left at the next crossroads. Leave the old left hand mill.

(16) In the middle of the plain (pedestrian marking point on the ground), go to the right on a descending path, then turn, at the next intersection, on the left. Still descending, this path ends at Guillons du Ravan, on a street.

(17) Keep this street by keeping to the left and reach the D6. Carefully cross this path and take the path opposite with a hedge (young in 2018) on the right. At the intersection with a path coming from the left, go right and find a tarmac portion. Cross the place called Villeneuve and come out on a cross road.

(18) Continue straight ahead to reach a crossroads with a path.

(19) Turn into the latter on the right. The climb leads back to the D6 previously crossed.

(20) Go opposite the path and find a cross path.

(21) At the wooded strip, turn left and continue to reach a tarmac road.

(22) Turn left to cross Champ Martin Bas. Reach D6. Cross this road with caution to take a small lane opposite. Leave one start on the left, then another on the right. Follow this path and leave the farm and the Château de Beauvais on the left.

(23) Carefully cross the D3 towards Moulin Barjot and go straight on at the crossroads serving the houses of this hamlet. At the bottom of the descent, let the right road go which leads to Les Guirtelles. Go straight up, reaching a fork formed by the roads.

(24) Continue on the road on the right (do not take the path on the right). Reach Montreparé.

(25) Cross the place between a farm and the houses. Go down, reaching the middle of the hamlet of Chappe.

(26) Turn at the fire hydrant (located on the left), onto the small signposted lane “Source de la Pisserotte”.

(27) After visiting the three sources (la Pisserotte, le Bouillon, la Vigueur) (and perhaps a snack stop), turn around.

(26) Turn left, go down a few meters and go to the right.

(28) At the Croix de la Guirtelle, go straight ahead until the crossroads of four streets.

(29) Turn left. Then take the second right then the next left. Cut the D6 and reach the car park (D/A).
