Its amount varies depending on the type of accommodation. The amount of the tax must be displayed to the owner of the accommodation. In addition, it must appear on the invoice given to the vacationer.

The tourist tax must be paid by the vacationer who stays in one of the following accommodations: palace, tourist hotel, tourist residence, furnished tourist accommodation or vacation rental between individuals, bed and breakfast, holiday village, outdoor accommodation (camping, caravanning, port of pleasure, parking area), youth hostel.

It is paid to the landlord, hotelier or owner who pays it to the community of municipalities. It can also be paid to the professional who provides the internet reservation service on behalf of the landlord, the hotelier, the owner.

Some vacationers may be exempt from tourist tax, according to the decision of the community of municipalities or the EPCI: people aged under 18, holders of a seasonal employment contract employed in the municipality, beneficiaries of emergency accommodation or temporary rehousing , people occupying premises whose rent is less than an amount determined by the municipal council, owners of a second home for which they pay housing tax.
