I am originally from Franche Comté but I have always lived in the Paris suburbs. Until eight years ago… Until I discovered Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye during a trip to Vaucluse. It was summer. My lover and I were going on vacation to visit friends.

Our arrival in Puisaye

A real love at first sight for the village of Saint-Sauveur in Puisaye and Poetry, artists’ village. Vincent Magni contacted us by mail to urge us to discover his artists' village.

Arrived in the old brickyard, we were captivated by the beauty of the place. The factory, with its two large chimneys, its expanse of greenery decorated with monumental sculptures, its dog Rolly, the people who welcomed us… I will never forget this day when our lives changed.

I have to say that the call of the province has been tickling us for several years.

On the way south, we kept thinking about Poetry and were already making life plans in our heads. Me, every time I passed a brick chimney, I told myself that it was a sign…

Poetry in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye

The countryside, a lifestyle choice…

We have lived at La Poèterie for eight years. Puisaye has become our land, our living source, we have built our accommodation and our workshops there, we are as happy as roosters in dough. We had no idea that the village would offer so many celebrations. We signed with our eyes closed… The native village of Colette, his house, the museum eponym, the small bistros, the Sarrasine tower, the two artists' galleries, the second-hand booksellers who have become our closest friends, its Wednesday market...

We regularly go to Paris to meet our family. However, when we return home it is like a balm to the heart, a rediscovery of the landscape with the ever-changing sky, where we say, reassured, “this is not a dream”.

My husband is an artist. We got married in Saint-Sauveur in 2012. He sculpts metal like others here model the land of Puisaye. As for me, I find beautiful enamels in Briare for my mosaics.I know, I feel that we will grow old here, in this old factory. And the day we can no longer climb the many stairs, too old, there will always be the Gandrille residence to welcome us.
