Lac du Bourdon: from the river to the reservoir

First and largest artificial lake in Yonne, the Lac du Bourdon, with an area of ​​220 hectares, has a history that dates back to the very beginning of the 1901th century, and the impoundment of this lake in XNUMX. It owes its name to the ru du Bourdon, which takes its source in Treigny and whose course passes where the lake was built. Initially created to regulate the flow of the Loing, and therefore the Seine, the lake has become over the years a popular place for leisure.

Where to buy your fishing license?

In order to preserve wealth aquatic fauna and guarantee an experience pleasant for all, Lac du Bourdon, 2nd category public domain, has established a set of strict rules. To fish at Lac du Bourdon, you must have the fishing card of the AAPPMA “the ponds of Puisaye”. This reciprocal fishing company sells its fishing licenses on:

Fishing routes are therefore accessible with the EHGO, CHI or URNE interfederal card or with a fishing card issued by a reciprocal association.

Fishermen are required to respect catch quotas, minimum sizes, and fish reproduction periods. Night fishing is regulated to minimize environmental impacts, and the use of certain fishing techniques is subject to restrictions. Any carp caught must be returned to the water alive (no-kill). These rules are essential for maintain ecological balance of the lake and ensure its sustainability for future generations.

Regulations of Lac du Bourdon:

  • The practice of wild camping, bivouac, campfires, the use of barbecues or stoves are strictly prohibited, day or night, on all public property.
  • The installation of motorhomes, caravans, converted vehicles or other shelters is prohibited near the shores of the Lake.
  • Are authorized, in the night carp fishing areas and in the case of practice, green or camouflage-looking shelters such as Biwy, Shelter or Brolly.
  • La motorized navigation (fishing boat with thermal or electric motor) for fishing is prohibited.
  • Using float tube (without engine) is permitted.
  • Fishing is prohibited from July 1 to August 31 of each year on the Calanque side and on the beach side.

Remaining one of the smallest artificial lakes in France, it is the fourth largest artificial lake in Burgundy-Franche-Comté (out of 13), open to leisure activities. It is the popular place for fishing in the Yonne, to relax or take part in competitions (the lake hosted the French championships and the world fishing championshipse to carp in 2015 and 2016).

When purchasing your fishing license from the AAPPMA “Les étangs de Puisaye”, please note that you can also fish on the entire fish estate managed by the fishing company:

  • In Saint-Privé, in the Petit Bouza (5 hectares) and Grand Bouza (9 hectares) ponds.
  • In Moutiers-en-Puisaye, the Moutiers pond (36 hectares) and the Charmoy pond (15 hectares).
  • In Saint-Martin-des-Champs, the Lélu pond (18 hectares).

You can also fish on the Loing in the communes of Bléneau, Saint-Privé, Saint-Martin-des-Champs, Saint-Fargeau, Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye. You will be there in 2nd category of the private domain.

Note that specific routes have been established by the AAPPMA on these ponds:

  • Charmoy pond: no-kill predators, fishing with artificial lures and dead bait authorized, in float tube only (other fishing such as carp, carp or crayfish… prohibited).
  • Lélu Pond: lo-kill pike.
  • Moutiers-en-Puisaye pond: no-kill predators (lures and dead-handling only).

In Puisaye-Forterre, other fishing spots are possible. Please note that these courses are managed by non-reciprocal AAPPMAs. You will need to buy a fishing right with each one.
